Me vs The Weather

Have you ever noticed when people complain about something it invariably is the weather. Admittedly, it has been very hot and humid these last few days in Seoul. Though the incessant complaints of how hot/cold/windy/wet it is do grate on the nerves. As if I hadn't noticed myself. You see, I always travel in a hermetically-sealed and temperature controlled bubble that allows me to be impervious when people around me are at the mercy of the elements.
Reminds me of a rugby league game I watched back home. Bulldogs - Roosters game at a time of the season when the top spot open for the taking. Somehow, the Bulldogs scored a miracle try (no doubt aided by the referee) and the guy next to me yells "DID YOU SEE THAT!! PHWOAR!!!". I was stunned, as he obviously hadn't noticed I was reading 'War and Peace'. I always bring a big, thick novel to league games between top teams. Just in case nothing happens. Anyway, I digress.

I had an appointment on the weekend and just as I had walked downstairs from my unit it started to pour down in buckets. So I walked back up and like an esprit d'escalier I start to think if it is really worth going out in such horrid weather. A million things raced through my head until I remembered that it's just water (the acid rain would have already been rained out) and more importantly, the weather is something totally out of my control, for now at least.
It always amazes me that people complain about the things that are beyond their control. Hence the weather becomes the scapegoat for all of life's bigger issues you dare not approach either out of fear, impotence or indifference (but always hoping things will improve on their own). Though what is mostly forgotten is, to quote Shakespeare,

All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players.

There is no mention of anyone being a spectator to life. Just get on with what you're doing and let the weather do what it has been doing since time began.
